Steele

He is all ready to go.......
He saw Dr. Renfro today. He got a clean bill of health. He could have been any better. Loaded and unloaded from the trailer like a champ. Got blood pulled and he didn't care.
The Dr. Estimated him to be 9 years old.
He has cataracts,  there is no making it any better. The vet said he has seen a horse go from moon blindness to cataracts in the span of 3 weeks. His traveling papers will be done the end of this coming week.  Yay!!
His new mom is super excited.
I'm so happy for them both.

Changes

Well I have a chance to catch up since I'm not at work because of snow. Sick of it already.
I was really sick and at the same time Wes got appendicitis.  Off to the ER we went. Then to surgery. He is fine.
I'm finally getting better. I'm guessing it helps that I quit smoking. Yup I was that sick.
I've been working nights for snow and that about wore me out. Need some sunshine.
Steele goes to the vet next Saturday to get his coggins, health certificate and everything he needs to go out of state. He will actually be crossing several states. He is getting a mini friend and Kai might be going with him as well to be a therapy horse.
Lakota is due to foal the end of march/beginning of April.
Need to start putting together the arena but that won't happen until spring.
I guess that's it for now.
More later

Holy Crap on a cracker

Ok so the week from hell started Monday.
We went to work. I came home at lunch sick. I've been sick for 3 months and it was getting worse.  Wes came home. Well.......
Monday night Wes threw up all night long, I'm in bed sick as a dog.
Tuesday........I went to the dr. I asked Wes if he wanted to go. He said no. He stayed home in bed. The dr. Scolded me for letting this go so long and put me on 2 antibiotics, Augmentin and Amoxicillian.  He put me on an inhaler and cough medicine with codeine.
Came home. Wes asked me that afternoon where his appendix is. I pressed the area and he said oowww. Not a good sign.
We go to bed and he is up and down, in pain, can't get comfortable.  I asked I'd I needed to take him to the hospital.  He said probably.  I got him dressed and off we went headed to NKC Hospital at 3:30 wednesday morning.  By 5 a.m. we find out that he has appendicitis and is headed to surgery. In the meantime I'm still sick.  He went to surgery a little after 8 a.m.
Simon came to see his dad and keep me company. They released Wes at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.  Yup that's right, the same day and 12 hours after we got there. I got his pain meds and got him home. He is doing well today. I went back to work Thursday even though I'm still sick. Now it's a 3 day weekend and maybe I can kick this shit.
Needless to say it's been a really weird week.

Friday shocker

Came home from work yesterday and started to feed and noticed a LOT of hoof prints OUTSIDE the fence. I looked at Wes with a look of WTF?
He said the boys were out. Well  I guess they were out for a while but never left home, never left the yard.
Such good boys.

Busy Week

I will be glad when winter is over. Ugh! I'm already tired of the cold and crap.

AJ is enrolled in the futurity now and tomorrow is the breeding auction.  We will attend.

The last storm I worked ended up with a fatality in our area. Was a bummer for sure. Hate that part of my job.

I am glad the ground is freezing. Sick of mud. The horses are filthy.

Gotta go for another hay run this weekend.

I've had 4 birthdays plus Christmas and all I can say is that was really bad planning. Don't use UPS Store to mail a package, it costs a fortune.

Got all my APHA stuff taken care of.

Time to watch some movies and be lazy this weekend.

Happy Announcement

Well I got a very nice invitation yesterday. I got invited by the Northwest Missouri stallion owners futurity to enroll Norfleets Noble Hart  aka AJ. All of his 2017 offspring will be futurity eligible.
They apparently saw his picture and said they would very much like to see him enrolled.
I have booked several breeding to him for spring.
I can't wait to see my foal out of him this year.

Forgot

Went to world's of fun this last summer and found that I can't take riding roller-coasters anymore.
They make me black out.

More of 2015

As I've been puttering around the house I've been thinking about 2015.
Some things I didn't mention.
I got my commercial drivers license.
Steele came to stay for a while so he wouldn't get put in a slaughter truck because he is blind.
Mia came to be part of our family on my 2nd day of work when I was working for social services.
Maggie had 12 puppies and all got great homes.
Belle gave birth to Royal, our beautiful blue roan filly.
Peaches came to be part of our family.
We adopted Willow from a rescue and I made some great new friends.
AJ, Lakota and Wildfire came to be part of our family.
Cat got ridden western for the first time.
Affair joined our family.
I brought home 3 horses running loose on a hwy and kept them safe until the owner was found.
Belle came back home from being at someone else's place for a little while so a child could gain confidence again.
Allie made it to her 14th birthday and is now well on her way to her 15th birthday. She is very old, has only partial eye sight, is hard of hearing and sleeps a lot but rattle dishes in the kitchen and she is there. For a miniature pincher she has lived a long time and still going. Our other min pin is now going on 12 and a little neurotic.  We call her the princess.
I've seen on of my best friends start a new life and smile and laugh more than I've ever seen her do.
I've lost some people in my life but have gained new ones as well.
2015 wasn't a bad year at all and Wes and I still tackle everything together and enjoy each others company and live, laugh and love constantly.
2016 looks to be a great year with so much to offer.

Hello 2016

Well made it to another year! YAY go me!

One year ago today Maggie was having puppies. Twelve in all. She is now spayed! All got great homes.

Spending today picking up around the house and doing laundry and keeping the dishwasher running.

Dogs are wondering why we are home. Lol. It's nice having the same days off as Wes.

Starred the new year in absolute pain. Woke up with a horrible headache. No I didn't drink last night.

This year we will be standing our stallions, having a couple foals and changing out some more fence to make a secure pasture for the stallions. I'd like to make the current stallion pen the place for the mares to foal in. This way they can go to the barn without being locked in the barn.
I need to finish registration on some horses and get them transferred.  It will be a busy year but I think it will be worth it.
Wish all this mud would dry up.
I need to go turn out some horses for the day.
