Frog

Frog got moved in with Josie today. Right now they kinda walk around ignoring each other.  That will change. Both are slow eaters so neither will steal from the other.  I've noticed that, like Jo, Frog really doesn't eat the hay either so soaked alfalfa for her too. She loves it mixed with her food. Gave her electrolytes today, seems to have given her a boost. Put some eye meds from vetrycin in her eye, and a fly mask on, seems to be working well.  She went straight to her dinner tonight which I was happy to see. She needs some weight. I don't think she has teeth to chew. So same diet as  Jo for Frog. Boys are moved to roundpen. They don't care.

Frog

Fresh off the trailer as she checks out her temporary area until tomorrow when she goes to her area with Josie.
The pasture horses came up over an hour later and were like oh wow who are you and said hi to her. She was like look at all my friends.  Then they all lost interest and went back to grazing.
She is so chill. If she isn't sore tomorrow from the trailer ride,  I may ride her around a little.
She was thrilled with her hay and grain this evening and I think she will have a very restful evening and night.
Definitely in for a grooming tomorrow.

I couldn't be happier.

Frog

My Frog is coming home tomorrow.  Hard to believe she's 28 years old. She'll be the kids horse n I w and will be retired from Ranch work.

Rant Time

Ok soooo I have a boarder. Mistake #1. My boarder doesn't know a lot or even a little about horses. So the 2 yr old they have is in a lot with my daughters old mare Josie and one of my yearling colts that just got gelded. The male counter part of the boarder decided to buy a horse block, not a trace mineral, not really sure what he bought but pretty sure it was a fly block and put it in the pen. Didn't ask me first, didn't even tell me he put it out there. I found it today out there along with my 36 yr old mare who now has the water shits.
Let me reiterate permission to put anything in that pen was not given or even asked. I do NOT give my horses fly blocks, never have, never will. It's just pesticide in compressed feed as far as I'm concerned.  I was and am HOT PISSED! The half eaten block has been thrown out of the pen and I have expressed my feelings to the boarders in a very profound way. I was very specific about how Josie and my other horses only get specific things. Very specific!!!! They do not know enough about horses to be putting shit that they aren't sure what it is in the pen. I had to tell them what kind of feed to put their colt on. They come out like twice a month to feed him treats over the fence and that's it.
I swear this is the very last time I let anyone board here. I'm just done trying to help people. They do not think passed the nose on their face. My horses look the way they do for a fucking reason. I'm very careful and do my research and do diligence prior to changing anything or giving them anything. I guess I'll be giving pepto to Jo tomorrow.  The colts owner is to lazy to work to teach the colt to stand to be fly sprayed. I told them so too. I've tried to offer suggestions at their request on training tips but I get ignored so I don't help anymore. Funny thing is I can get the colt to back up without anything more than a wiggle of the lead and a verbal cue, the owner can push him on the chest with all his might and the horse won't move. Hmmm wonder which of us knows what we are doing and which of us doesn't. I know the answer.
Sad part is the colt could be a really good horse but owners don't know shit. The wife is super PISSED, not at me. Which surprised me because I went OFF! Flat said do not put shit in that pen without my permission. The owner really has no clue what kind of block he put in there. So fabulous! Guess I'll look for the wrapper tomorrow to see exactly what it is. He said that it said horse but had no idea what it was for.
Anyway I blew my cool we shall see what happens now.
Do not fuck with my horses!!
End of fucking rant!!

Tonka

Tonka is growing into such a beautiful boy. At a year old he is pctured with Trick and is already just about as tall as Trick.

A bit of puffness from being gelded on Wednesday 8/19/2020 but still feeling good enough to play.

Play time

Back

Yay my blog is back. Had to uninstall and reinstall it.  Now to figure out where I left off and I can play catch up this evening.  Lots to catch up on.
