Pigs

I got 2 guinea pigs. They are just toooo cute. I need to find a male.
I love their little squeak noises they make. I've always liked them. They are so much better than hamsters.  They don't bite.
They love their apple wood sticks and thus weekend I'm getting them treats.
I'll get pics this weekend.

Kitty update

We had a burial this evening. Poor 3 legged kitty didn't make it. She passed this morning. We tried but she was just to far gone. She knew love and purred while I petted her last night and talked to me. RIP sweet cat.

Academy

Went to academy today. Got 100% on my written test. YAY! Did some field activities  and had a blast even though it was raining. It was in Sedalia and it was a little chilly but worth it.

Kitty update

Well the gray cat is still with us. She is eating but I was unable to get her to drink so I got a syringe and some warm water and she drank a lot. This is positive. I still am not sure she will make it as she is very very thin. She is having trouble keeping warm so I have the heating pad on for her and she sleeps on it. I sit and pet her and she purrs. So far she is still hanging with us. I hope I can pull her through.

Willows story

I discovered Willow several months ago. She just had a look about her. I enquired about her and was told by a friend and board member of the rescue that she had been there about a year and a half actually almost 2 years. She had been abandoned during the winter and she didn't look very good. She had been secretly in someone else's pasture under darkness of night. The woman that found her had 2 horses and in the morning she had 3.
Willow has been well trained but she does have trust issues which points to some harsh handling.
She is broke to ride and is 14.3 hands. They think she is morgan. She is built well and very stocky. They have another horse I'd like to have as well. Heck may just adopt her too. We will see.
The rescue is the best I've ever seen. Very clean and I've never seen so many people caring the way they do and go to the extra lengths. They put training time into the horses and develop an actual plan. The application process isn't bad and they love to work with people to adopt. I got my approval 2 weeks as go. It took 2 to 3 weeks to get through the process.  The board members vote. I was fortunate enough to meet the owner of the place as well as many of the board members.
Can't wait for her to get home. She will have a job as one of our trail horses.

Trim Day

Some pictures of trim going up. Will post finished pics later. Moved the China hutch back in the diningroom.  Got all my horses put back in it. Still have more that goes in it.
Got 2 of the cutest guinea pigs this afternoon.  They are adorable. I will post pics of them soon.
Two of the big dogs got ahold of a cat today or rather tried. I saved the cat. It has had one leg amputated in the past. It's very skinny and it is sleeping in the spare room with a heating pad for now. It didn't seem like it was warm enough and it loves the heating pad. She is a very loveable cat. Has apparently had a real rough life. I'll try to heal it. Don't know how successful I will be.
Next I want to paint the kitchen and then remodel the bedroom.

Willow

One more week and you will be home forever.

Paint Day

Painted the diningroom and hall today. Kitchen will be next I think. Just have to decide on a color.  I'm thinking a border too. Moving the China cabinet back in and I can start putting the house back together. I want to go see Willow tomorrow but will probably wait till I go pick her up next weekend.
We still have to put trim up. The paint job looks real good, more so in person than in the pics. Really makes the wood stand out.

Bella

Looks so much like her mom Lacey.

Peaches

My sweet Peach. I think we will ride this weekend.  She has been wanting to hang out with me. So we shall do just that.
I love that Peach.

Exhaustion

I'm exhausted.  Love the new job though. It's nice that my office is outside doing different things.
Wasn't feeling great today but made it through. Have to go to Sedalia next week which means I probably won't have to work Friday. BONUS.
I'll put in about 12 hours between traveling and business so will get to take off a day. I hope the weather is nice.  Heck maybe I'll hook up the trailer and go get my new girl a couple days early. That would be nice.
Well time for a nap before bedtime. Lol. Heck it may be lights out for the night.
Goodnight world. Thank Goodness tomorrow is Friday.

Royal

I need to get new pictures of Royal because she is a dark blue with one heck of a winter coat going on. She is already half as tall as her momma. She is absolutely beautiful. She is sweet and loveable now too. Walks up to us now. I call her fuzzy butt right now. Lol

Almost time

It's almost time for her to come home!

Some of the babies

We were unloading wood and I caught some of the horses coming in for a drink so grabbed my phone and took some shots of them.
I so love all of the horses. We have a great group.Yes they are all nice and fat for winter. It's a good day!

What a day

Well I'm beat, sore and don't want to do anything new after cutting wood all day but got 2 truck loads in. Now started laundry and my body is wondering what the hell I'm doing to it.
Even in the wake of losing my keys it's still been a great weekend.
Affair is mine lock stock and barrel now even though it broke me but so worth it.
I got a new fishing pole yesterday and some lattice to put around the fence in front. I got a round bale put out for the boys.
Life is good.
Pick up Willow in 2 weeks. Excited.

Keys Gone

Well at least my check came today but I lost my keys both personal and work keys. I went to job site and looked, no keys. Monday there are 2 other places to look. They were in my coat pocket and at some point fell out. I'm so pissed off! On the upside I think I can pay off my horse.
That makes me happy.

Paycheck?

To get it would be nice. I hope today!! Hmmmm.

Meeting day

Jeesh spent all day in a meeting south of the river. Good food though.
Today was my first payday but they mailed the check and of course it's not here yet. I'll be glad when my direct deposit kicks in.
I'm more tired from sitting in the meeting than I would be had I worked all day.
Still like my new career though.
This weekend will be horse time.
I can't wait to get Willow home and settled in.

Horses in the mist?

No unfortunately it's horses in the dust this evening.

Lake Fun

Went fishing for a little while today. Wes got 1 bite, I got a couple bites and a fish that got off the hook when I got it to the waters edge.
Then Wes got bored, lol, so we came home.
I finished up laundry and finished cleaning house. Yay go me.

Kai

It's been a while since I posted a picture of Kai. Well here he is, nice and healthy and so happy. Trick took an instant liking to Kai. His best friend is Bella. He is such a part of our family. He has bloomed into a very handsome boy.

Winter Wood

We got another big truckload of wood in today. Ugh. I'm exhausted.  We got 4 or 5 trees downed and cut. Last weekend we got 2 truckloads. Only about 17 more to go. Lol.

I'm loving the new things we did to the little barn. Soooo convenient.  It is where Willow will be with Josie when she comes home although there will be turnout during the day or during the night. Whatever works out best.

Omg so tired. Gonna go take a nap.

Morning BS

Between 2:30 and 3 this morning (2:40 to be exact) the dogs alerted. Something was different about it though. I sat up in bed and watched out both windows. A vehicle was going by real slow on the north side then backed up then went by the house about halfway down our fence line on the east side, stopped for a minute then turned around in the middle of the road. Imagine their surprise when they discovered I was up, turning on outside lights. Seems they didn't like that since they took off at that point. All of the stops were made by our fences. They went just beyond our property line on the north side after this and out of sight but I could still see light from the head lights.

Yah well whether trying to lure my dogs out or casing the place or up to no good with the horses I'm here to tell whomever that they are playing a very dangerous game.

I'm a light sleeper and I don't fuck around with this shit. Nothing good could be coming from skulking around this far out in the country at that time of the morning.

Needless to say the security cameras went up today along with a motion sensor flood light.

Whomever it was consider this your one and only warning. I no longer play and I am extremely PISSED OFF.

Beautiful Fall Evening

Sitting on the patio enjoying the fall evening looking out over all the horses. They are so beautiful and enjoying themselves.  Josie finished her dinner and got turned back out. Wes is cooking ribs and made mac salad. Having a drink and relaxing after working all day on the little barn and cleaning up more shit around here. It's been 2 years since we bought this place and we are still finding all kids of crap and still cleaning up and remodeling things. It doesn't look like the same place.
Life is good and I love it out here.
Pond is almost dried up (I don't care) and honestly I'd like to have it dozed. It leaks and is worthless. The horses won't have anything to do with it.
Maybe next year I can get someone in here to do it.
Have a great evening everyone. It's a beautiful sunset tonight.

The New Job

The new job is good. We have a great group and it's a totally new experience but a good one.
I get home just after Wes does and we have the same holidays off.
It's a very good career move.

Little barn shelter

The little barn shelter is all redone now. All the nasty pink gross wood that was on it is now completely gone. It is now skinned to match the big barn and has a gate to go into the barn part without having to go through the boys pen. Best part is we had all the materials and didn't have to spend a dime. It use to be a chicken house and we changed it into a run in shelter for the horses. When the place was appraised they didn't even include that building. Now it would be considered.
Next is a stallion fence between the small pasture and the big pasture so that the boys will have a turnout pasture. We will put an access for the pasture horses to get into the big barn so now everyone has shelter access and pasture access as well. They aren't spoiled at all. Lol.

Willow

Got word today that Willow will be coming home the end of the month. They are going to continue her training for the next 3 weeks.

Thank you to all who participated in the reference process.

Progress

Since I've been riding Cat she has come around so much. Tonight while watering she came to the fence, let me love all over her, didn't offer to leave and usually the only time she let's you love on her is if she was caught and attached to a lead rope.
I'm so proud of all the changes she has made in the last year. It's been interesting to watch and see her develop trust and be a regular horse.

Have to say

Well I have to say although this last 2 weeks has been major difficult I have to admit it's been a challenge I've been able to overcome step by step. Two and a half weeks ago I had 3 days to get someone trained to take my previous job. Since then it has been a series of hurdles. Some professional some personal but I will preserver.
Yet another test coming up that I've been studying for. Who would have thought I'd take so many tests at my age. Gotta admit my fear of tests has lessened considerably.
I have to admit at the end of the day when I come home, greet Wes and go feed the horses the time I get to spend petting them and saying hi and checking them all has taken on a new and deeper meaning.
I've noticed winter coats are coming on quickly which does not lead me to believe we will have a mild winter. Yuck!!
I'm going to start stocking up on senior feed for Jojo so it will be on hand. Her coat has thickened a lot so not sure she will need a blanket this year but have hers folded and put away just in case.

I managed to round up my tack and get it all put away. It was to dusty in the loft so I've cleaned it up, located my best saddle pad and put everything away.
It's all under lock and key since the neighbors down the street keep getting arrested for GOD knows what. Yet again cops racing down the road into that house and hauling people away. Back in the day you could leave your entire house unlocked and didn't have to worry. Not anymore.  It's sad.

I keep hearing so many preaching safety at my new job. They keep saying it's really dangerous.  I will admit that I have asked myself on occasion if I realize what I've done. Still not sure of the answer but I do like what I'm doing. So much training though.

Ok so bored everyone enough. Besides it's time to get ready to turn in. Can't believe tomorrow is already Wednesday. Wow.

Dreary Lazy Day

Well it's chilly out today but a good day to burn stuff.
All the horses have been out in the pasture, they boys haven't wanted to play, just munch on hay and hang out in the barn.
Pistol was amazed by the fire. Weirdo.
Ham, beans and cornbread night for sure.
Caught up on laundry and got kitchen cleaned up finally.
Liking the new hours. I get home nice and early right along with Wes.
Went and cut wood yesterday, scouted some awesome trails for riding. We were going to go out there today but this house has suffered long enough and needed to be cleaned and honestly it looks like rain. Thought it was suppose to be sunny today.
Got in my share of poison ivy yesterday. We will know soon enough how badly that will be. Ugh.

Busy day

We went and cut wood today, scouted horse trails, which there were tons. This is on something like 300 or 400 acres. There are trails through the woods, multiple ponds, great camping areas, open pasture area, ditches to cross and just about anything a person would like.....including a ton of poison ivy.

Below: Tinker is worn out from going with us today.

An area in the woods we stopped at today
One of many many many trails
Took the truck through some hairy wooded areas
It's very pretty
It's private property so it's super nice to be the only ones riding out there
So much green
My precious Willow.
My gorgeous grand daughter  Anjeleena.
