Mags

Ms Maggie joined out family in 2014. It's been about a year and a half.
I have to say she drove me nuts at first.
I was working in the garden one day and she came bounding up like she had known me forever.
Wes said "don't pet her", I advised him that ship had already sailed.
I tried to find her a home because she was unruly and her energy was endless.

Well a year and a half later, a litter of puppies later and having had her spayed and some training, she is my best girl. So glad I kept her. She is such a great dog and spoiled.

Random

Mugsy went to his new home yesterday and I got an update last night. He has a new human sister that has been playing with him non-stop.  He chases her and tries to slap her feet with his paws. He got to go shopping at pets mart and get a new bed and toys and a collar and leash. He is one happy pup.

I found the gelding and mare diary entry on fb and thought it was cute so decided to post it here.
I got a giggle out of it.

Still raining

Well it's still raining but hey we have turkey and all the fixing to ease the sorrow. Lol.
Everyone is getting along fine. Not bothered by the rain.
The rescue puppies found new homes today. One left today, the other leaves the first week of December.
A quiet relaxing day at home with my honey.
Be safe everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving

It was a wonderful day, full of good food, family and silliness. The dogs wait for something to hit the ground.  Lol. They did get their turkey.

We had family over and it was a really good time.

We are stuffed!

Even the horses got extra for thanksgiving.

Wes being silly.  He said he will pay me back.
Lol

It's The Season

Well everyone, it's almost turkey day. YAY. Off work for 4 days provided I don't get called out.
Still hanging on to this virus, which sucks ass.
I hope everyone has a safe and happy thanksgiving.

Cold and blustery

It's sunny and that feels good but the wind sucks.
I figured I'd let Cat and Josie out for the day. I walked out there only to find them tucked in the little barn and Cat laying down taking a nice nap in the barn. I decided turnout could wait. A year ago you wouldn't have caught her doing this but she has changed so much. She did jump to her feet when I went out there either. I'm happy with how she has come along. It's amazing what one year being a regular horse will do for the mind. She is settled now. I'm not saying she doesn't have her moments of feeling frisky but now when she catches air it's because she is playing or excited about something.  Good excited, not nervous excited. It's amazing how happy she is now.
The weather change yesterday had them all going nuts and playing.
Willow and Peaches were racing across the pasture, tails flagged and just enjoying themselves.  Peaches has become a buddy to Willow now too. They are all fun to watch. Even Trick was running and bucking. Fat boy can catch air.

Nice roaring fire in the woodstove while I wait for Wes to wake up. He had to go in at midnight just in case roads got bad. Trying to keep the playing dogs quiet and occupied is like having toddlers again. Good grief!

A few more special cases

Meet Cruiser, Steve and Cinder,  short for Cinderella.

Cruiser was a pathetic sight when he arrived. These horses belong to a close friend of mine. She boarded some of them with me some years ago. They have grown into beautiful adult horses now.

Cruiser
Steve
Steve never got very big. We aren't real sure as to why but he is a love bug.
Cinder
Cinder has taken 3 years to get to a point where she isn't scared. She has clearly been hit or something.  She may never get over it completely.
Cruiser
Steve
They are all happy and healthy.

Some Special Cases

Decided to do some updates on a few horses.

This is what Cat use to look like in the top pic after being off the track for 2 months. Not fast enough for them so she was thrown away to become the top pic. I have had her a year now and you can see how she is now.
In that year she finally learned to be a regular horse. She interacts with the others well now, has learned to trust us, no longer bolts through gates and we have started riding. That seems to have made her even closer to me. Last winter she had virtually no winter coat and this year she has developed a beautiful thick winter coat. She is healthy and happy.
Kai is our gelding. As you can see he wasn't in great shape when we got him. We have had him almost 2 years now and I am happy to say that he did continue to grow once we got him back to good health. His coat is healthy he is healthy and has rounded out as well as grown. He is very sweet and his playmate and best friend is Trick, believe it or not.  They mock fight and they hang out together. Trick took to Kai right away which was kind of odd but I'm glad.
Below is Rain. She use to be referred to as the mangy orangutan. While she isn't mine I felt she deserved a spot on the blog. She gets lighter and lighter every year. Always really liked this mare. She has grown into such a beautiful mare and is a great momma.
I use to own Sis and yes she deserves a place on the page too. She was at one time in absolutely horrible condition, skin and bones. There was a woman that had her and her foal and omg it was bad. That was Soooo many years ago.
Below is Willow. Her friend Abby is next to her eating. Willow was abandoned a couple years ago and was taken in by a 501C3 rescue. We recently adopted her to be a part of our family. They believe she is a Morgan. She has fit in well here and we couldn't be happier to have her join our family. Willow is broke to ride too.
Over the years I have saved others, still have some others that came in not so good.
I will continue to help those I can.
No I am not a 501C3 but that doesn't mean I can't help on occasion.

Most of our horses do ride and we don't ride as much as we'd like but we do ride.
We mostly enjoy them daily and love spending time with them.
