Daughter Update

She is still at home, going to be layed up for a while. She is still in a lot of pain. She is stressing about how to pay bills which is not helping her heal at all. Anje is helping her around the house and Anje got her learners permit yesterday so she can drive Manda to the dr and such. Right now Manda is restricted from driving.
I'm totally tired.

Unexpected Training

Ok so the farrier came yestersay. He was working with / trimming the boarders mare at the time. I guess she did real good 3 out of 4 feet. I walked out there on the 4th foot and she was kicking at him every time he tried to pick it up. He popped her side with the rasp (in my book that's a huge no no) and straight up she went twice. Well I got him my Clinton Anderson stick and he was trying to work with her, (to no avail). I stepped in and said ok so there is one thing I'll take to my grave that I learned from all my Clinton seminars and that is if she wants to move her feet let's get them moving. I tried to tell him this prior to me going into the roundpen but he wasn't getting it. I took the stick and put the string back on it and said this is what I mean, and started working with her. He handed me the lead rope and said here you take her. So every time she kicked at the stick or string boy did she ever get to move those feet. After about 10 minutes she was no longer kicking the stick or string or anyone that touched her leg. So I picked up her back leg a few times with no issues, praised her for the correct behavior and asked the farrier I'd he wanted to try it again. He hesitated but did and there was no issue, she got trimmed and was then rewarded.
I talked with the farrier and boarder a while, talked horses and bloodlines and I went inside because everyone was done. Later, at feeding time, the boarder and I discussed the earlier events and about the farrier. Hr said he was very impressed with my performance and getting the horse to do what she was suppose to do. I told him that if his wifey, who is a dear friend,  didn't get a grip on being the alpha with yhese two horses (especially that colt) and put her foot down she was on the road to getting very hurt by one of thrm if not both. Bless her heart she loves to baby them and talk sweetly to them and that is not going to go far with teaching them manners or respect.  I told him that I know she thinks I'm mean when I correct them, and I do not hit them, but if they are not tsught then they are going to be horrible acting horses. He was in agreement. I will say that they have come a long way with those 2 horses. They behave much better. They are at my place working with them every single day.
They are good people and these 2 horses will never go anywhere else. All in all yesterday went pretty well.

My Beautiful Daughter

Well got the shit scared out of me last night. Got a call at 10:30 p.m.  from my darling daughter crying telling me she's in the ER and waiting to be taken to surgery. She had severe appendicitis.  They thought it had burst. Luckily it didnt. She still isn't out of the woods completely,  they said the infection is real bad and still needs to watch it. So she is on major antibiotics and pain meds. I wish I was with her to take care of her. She was in surgery most of the night. I'm tired so early night for me.
She'll be ok.

Dog Days of Summer

So it's the dog days of summer and guess whst? I'm over it!!
It's to hot to do a damn thing. To hot to ride,
Althought, I did hose down the horses. I soaked Josie fown. Old girl is holding up well.
My favorite filly managed to cut herself yesterday.  I found where and I cleaned and doctored it. It's not gaping open and she's stopped limping or moving around on 3 legs instead of four. Tough girl. I'm still medicating it though and continue to watch it carefully.  Weaning time is fast approaching and I'll be glad when that's over with. I'll be glad when fall gets here too. This heat is so oppressive.
Rebel has his own herd in the pasture and Trick has his own. It's funny because both are geldings. Kai is a gelding but he is loyal to Trick. Trick has always liked Kai though. When Kai was first here Trick would come over and play with Kai over the fence. I'm glad Kai is staying here. He is too. He loves to be antagonist to Trick. It's rather funny.
It's been nice to have not do many horses. I'm burnt out.......and no Trick is not for sale and neither are most of the others I've had for YEARS.
I have to admit I love my mini and my micro mini baby. They are so damn sweet and funny. I probably won't get any more but I'll keep these 2.
The boarders will be gone in a couple months. I'm not sure Pasha is leaving since circumstances have changed over at a friends.
Cat.........well she is my special case. I imagine she'll be my pet around the place. I don't foresee her going anywhere like trail riding. I mean she might but people, and I use thst term loosly, really terrified her. It's taken 2 years to get her where she is now. I love her though and she'll spend her life here. No one is allowed to touch her, with the exception of 1 person.
I love my goats. They think they're dogs. It's halarious. I picked out a kitten today. Can't wait till it can come home. She is adorable.
I guess it's going to thunderstorm tonight. Hmmm. I just wish it would cool off so we can go ride.  Oh we actually found 2 pair of western boots for Wes! I also found another pair of fat baby boots. We will see how long these last. If these fall apart I'm going to Justin boots.
Well its late, going to bed.
Try to stay cool.

Project 2 Horse Trailer

Project 2 Horse is up and running. Applied paint stripper today to get rid of hideous pinkish/purple color. Need more citrus stripper. The old girl is in good shape really for a 1971 trailer. It's reliable and sturdy.  Original factory color was gold, then it was painted a,dark red and then I'm not sure what the pink was all about. It will look a lot better when it's done. It's just sooo much quicker and easier than my huge trailer. Still keeping the gooseneck though. It needs work cranking it up and down ugh. It's heavy. All in good time.

Stripping time

Tomorrow I'll start stripping the pink paint off the 2 horse trailer. OMG having a 2 horse is nice. It hooks up so much easier so much quicker and so much less effort. I'm going to look it over closer tomorrow.  I know it needs a new tail light lense. It pulls really nice. Can't even tell it's back there. Angus was the first horse I hauled in it. I'm super excited about using it more than my big 3 horse gooseneck although I do love that trailer too. I'm excited. :)

My Killer Pistol

Just don't know what to do with such a dangerous horse. LOL. Sarcasm of course. I swear he is the biggest puppy dog here. Went to him, slipped on his halter and stuck the dewormer in his mouth and didn't even fight me. I've raised a few foals in my life and he is by far the best ever. He never fails to amaze me. He is 3 this year and started under saddle. He is Soooo easy.

Ha ha

Electric fence extended because as I stated in a previous entry Ms. Angel kept stepping the fence down and over she'd go into the yard. Not now!! Some of the others would push on the fence too so it was needed for everyone! They have discovered it is on.

Angus went to my neighbors today. She is pleased as punch. I'm sure she spent all afternoon with him. I went and picked up the 2 horse trailer and she and I came back to get Angus and he loaded right up and I took him to her house. He is a good boy.

Took Amanda to dinner. Had a good time.

Angus

Sweet Angus goes to his new home at the neighbors tomorrow.  Bitter sweet. He is 2 years old won't be ready to do anything with till he is 5 because of his breed. With me being I'll I really don't see me training him in 3 years and oh does he love the neighbor so much. I'm super happy for him. I'll go get my 2 horse trailer and then take him to them. They have the trailer. After tomorrow the trailer will go to be painted to match my red pickup. Woohoo!!! Finally a matching trailer.

Mustang Angel

Well yall might recall that last year in August I got a young mustang from BLM that was out of Wyoming.  Well it seems like it's been so much longer than almost a year but boy has she changed. She went from a dark bay to a bay roan. She is way to smart for her own good but is such a puppy dog. She has really grown.
Here are some pics from today with one from a year ago when she was in the TIP training program.  Picture quality sucks but that will change as soon as I get my new phone.

RIP Allen

Well the service for my brother in law was a very nice one. He got full military honors and we all lost it during the flag ceremony and when they gave Audrey the flag. Allen will be missed so very much. Some of his Ameristar family were there and a very nice black lady sang Amazing Grace and nailed it with no music. It was WOW! Audrey gave me a big hug tonight and thanked me for stopping a petty fight online.
RIP my brother. You were always someone I enjoyed being around and going camping with. You left us all way to soon. We love you and hope you watch over us all.

July 4th, 2017 & stuff

Happy 4th everyone!
We celebrated by cleaning house, going to the feed store and walmart and that about it. It rained this morning so the mini and micro mini baby didn't come out today. No riding today either. A bit to hot and humid.
Went to Wes' brothers for cookout and the people across the street put on one hell of a show. It was awesome. I was glad Audrey came too. She just doesn't know what to do without Allen. Memorial is this Friday.
After this week I'm off work for 2 weeks.  During that time I'm looking for another job. My surgery was canceled before the July schedule was done but says that I can't be put back on I have to take it with no pay but I can do the clients no one else will......uhhh let's see, I can't get put back on the schedule but I can take care of the bad clients......NO. Either I work my schedule or not, it's not going to be half ass bullshit.

On to better things to write about.........

Hmmm....the horses.......did I mention that Kai is going to remain here? A friend of mine has graciously offered to finish the boy. He was just meant to be here and honestly I'm looking forward to riding him. He has grown into such a big wide boy. He isn't short either. He started growing like crazy after he got over being emaciated when I got him. He's such a sweet boy. I'll end up with about half of what I had by the time I'm done selling out. Everything that's staying here will be trained. Molly will train next year, Royal the year after that and honestly I don't know that I'll have the mustang trained. She may just stay a pet. I do love her though. She's bay roan so now I have that and a blue roan.
I can't even express how wonderful it is to go riding with my wonderful husband.  Oh we have so much fun. It's something I always dreamed of.....having a mate to go ride with.  It's such togetherness and relaxation and you find your center. It took a while to find the right horse for him, I thought I was going to have to give him my horse and I take over a green one, but the perfect one came along. It's funny he rides a mare and I ride a gelding.  I have to admit I like my mares and I absolutely love his mare. I use to think geldings were the best but my entire herd of mares are great mares.
I can and am enjoying the horses again now that I've cut back. It's so nice. I got a 2 horse trailer now too so it will be less hassle than the big trailer. I'm not selling the big trailer. I can remodel the living quarters now. Yay!
Have a safe 4th everyone. ....see ya down the trails.

Sundays Ride

I've gotta say both horses rocked it Sunday. Trick did everything without issue. While he isn't crazy about mud or wat e r he did it anyway because I asked him to and we'll the other horses did it so his ego got the best of him and he did it. I was very proud of my outta shape boy, but then again everyone is outta shape. I'll be glad when it cools down a bit. I don't like taking them out when it's so humid and hot. We have a friend with 300 acres and we have full access to that so we are going to trail ride there too.
We really had a very good time.

Rough week Ahead

It's going to be a rough week this coming week. My brother in law was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. It took his life this morning in the wee hours. It took him quickly from the time he was diagnosed.  He passed peacefully and without pain. This week will be the celebration of life for him. I loved hanging out with Allen and Audrey. Ross is not taking it well at all. I hugged him tight told him I loved him and how I'd miss his dad. This family is my family. Wes has not cried, that worries me. I took him out riding this morning to hopefully take him away from all the grief if only for a couple hours. A dragonfly landed on my horses mane and I know it was Allen. Yesterday one landed on Jamie's hat and I knew it was his grandpa. Allen was a good brother, always made me feel welcome in the family. There will forever be an empty place within us all. The world I'd a little less bright without Allen in iy.
We love you and miss you brother. Fly high and catch big fish up there and watch over us all.

Day 2

This was today's ride. Wes rode his mare Pera and I rode my gelding Trick. It was another awesome day of riding. As soon as I get my other phone I'll be able to take a butt load of pics.
Oh Kai is staying with us.

Back to Riding

Back in the saddle again.
Took Wes' mare out for a 5 mile ride with good friends.  She passed the test. Tomorrow Wes and I will go out to ride. I'll be on my ever faithful Trick tomorrow and Wes will be on his horse. Love that we get to go ride together.  Pera is a great mare.
