Winter

Well I guess winter finally arrived.  It was cold, dreary and windy today and more standing water and mud that's like soup. It's horrible. All the colts and younger ones need to stay under the shelter.
Pretty sure Sadie has Lymphoma. I'm keeping her comfortable.  She is the walker coon hound that came with the house when we bout it 10 years ago and she was 2 or 3 years old then. She's living in the house now and staying warm, dry and on meds. Her color is pale. She isn't in pain though. She does sleep a lot.
Sleeping all day tomorrow sounds like a plan for me.

Rescues

I just discovered that the equine rescue I adopted one of my mares from is no longer in business, no longer exists! YAY!!! Apparently people became wise to their real deal like I did. I was threatened by that organization and had to hire an attorney.  After a year of fighting with them, they finally came to the realization that they had no case. They tried two different complaints and neither one held water. I still have my beautiful mare and now there is no way they could ever take her.
They use to adopt out horses, then find a loophole and take them away from adopting family and then adopt them out again , over and over and over again.
Now they are DONE!!!! Hallelujah!! I just wonder how they went down. 🤔

Boys will be boys

Went out to feed this morning and one of the boys kicked me. One hoof to the gut and one to my face. Face is sore buti don't think you can tell I got kicked there. I thought I was leaning on Luke but now I wonder if it was Jinx. Hard to tell them apart these days.

Mavis

Introducing the beautiful Mavis. She is a little shit. She's 5 yrs old and acts like a 2 yr old. She needs to have her little butt kicked by a herd mate to make her realize she is not a badass.
We will work on it together ❤️.

Larry, Mo and Curly

Wes calls the boys Larry, Mo and Curly.  They are growing so fast. My little fat babies. Josie's passing made me love them more. Plan on playing with them tomorrow before work and before rain. I hope the rain goes around us so mud can dry up more.

Miss Josie

I am so mixed with emotion over the loss of Josie. It's very hard. A friend,  Emily,  brought over 2 of her horses to stay while she puts up a fence. One is Mavis, a little Arabian, and Fiona. They at least keep my mind occupied along with the boys. The boys are coming around and even Drifter lets me pet him. Luke is coming around too. Jinx is standing firm on screw you people. Emily wants me to keep Mavis. She is an ornery shit to say the least. I plan on going and playing with her tomorrow.  I don't have to leave for work until 2:30 so I'll have some time. Unfortunately I'm working Saturday as well. Ugh. I'm only doing one weekend day a month and I'll hold them to it. I'm good, my clients like me so they really need me.
I'm tired tonight. At least I don't have a client tomorrow morning or Saturday morning.  I can actually wear regular clothes tomorrow.

Josie

We lost out old girl Josie yesterday.  She was about 40 years old. She suffered a stroke so we had to put her down. She was unaware of her surroundings and didn't even respond to us. She couldn't raise her head. She was completely unaware of her surroundings.  The weanlings were watching over her and Luke is a little lost without her. He was very close to her. I miss her and so do the babies. Wes said the pasture horses gathered for the funeral procession until Ty chased them off. He guarded her to her resting spot. He's such a good LGD. RIP Josie. You'll always be in our hearts 💕  forever.

Everything Great

I don't miss the clinic! I don't miss the lying bitches and back stabbing or the lack of anything being done about it by the owner. Lost a great employee that gave 200% and was the most reliable. Yet you couldn't give me an opportunity to say a thing. I never involved the clinic, your precious new RVT did. Poked her nose where it didn't belong. Oh and the fact you told me not to believe anything Rachael says then told Rachael not to believe me because I stir the pot????? I was the one that took all the shit, never saying anything so how is it I stir shit? I do not have to be treated the way I was. I'm sorely disappointed in what a liar you were. And your hiding from angry clients and leaving me to deal with it because the other girls would run too. Yet I'm the bad one!
Don't miss you, not any of you. I'm good now. Very good as a matter of fact.

Days activities

Today's activities consisted of taking tin roof off, cutting loose fence panels, corral panels. Tomorrow we go back to do more. I actually climbed on the roof of the tack room and took all the metal roofing off. Yes I'm very afraid of heights but I did it. We will finish taking it off the house tomorrow.  I was crawling on the roof like an inch worm. I'm sure I looked stupid and terrified.
All the babies are doing great. Love my baby boys. The little fur babies aka puppies, are all doing great. Little Bear loves to run around the yard with gidget chasing him. She's much faster than bear. It's funny. Little Foot is a big bully, skinny is spoiled and a princess like Tess. Likes to be in my lap, and Holly and Gizmo too.
Should hear about my car tomorrow I guess. Need to buy feed tomorrow. Body is sore. So tired.
Time change is tonight. Ugh. Not liking it at all.

Oct 29th 2023 was the best

The day I quit. To much high school drama. To many people in my business outside of work hours, To many stabs in the back. Nothing like sending a text to a "friend " and they send my text back to me when they meant to send it to someone else. Just can't let me handle my own business.  Then the other one drags the clinic in on something that had nothing to do with the clinic, but she made it about the clinic yet it had nothing to do with her. Hope they all have fun together.  The owner doesn't do anything about anything.  My guess is he was looking to have me leave so his favorite girl would come back. Never go there again. Don't recommend it either. Lies told to clients etc. Was quitting anyway it just got sped up by Ms nosey Nellie. I hope all the liars will be happy together.  Glad I'm not there anymore. All over a dog that I don't have. Eff you all.
Don't miss any of you.

To all you MF's

To all that said I couldn't or wouldn't,  well I did so f you all!
I've got nothing to be ashamed of or feel guilty for. I stand up for what I believe and sometimes I stand alone but that is just fine. To the ones who don't like me but feel compelled to watch me, go for it. Your lives are pathetic.  You can all kiss my a$$. I am the voice for those that do not have a voice and if you don't like it tough shit.

Updates on everyone

Well this entry was actually on July 7, 2023 just forgot to publish it. So I got the mustangs and donkey home from our dear departed friend Bill. Everyone has found an amazing home. Today Doc went to some very special people. She is already making more headway with him than I could. There have only been a few horses I've ever had that I couldn't get them to come around because I was just not the right person for them. Doc was Bill's and is a Mustang from Bureau of Land Management so yes a very real Mustang, branded and out of the wild. He is a sweet boy, I was just not the right person for me. I also gave Faith to their 3 yr old son to learn the love of horses on. She has heaves and can't be ridden much of a distance but will be super for her 3 yr old. She is sweet as pie and all her meds and supplements went with her. She was a gift.
Luke, Jinx and Drifter are growing like weeds, finally coming around and they keep Josie company and she loves them so very much. They are good for the old lady. I've had her now for 30 years. She is late 30's or 40 yrs old now. Nothing wrong with her, just a bit harder to keep her weight up. We keep her happy.
Desi, the crippled mustang mare, we did have to put her down. She got down and couldn't get her up. I had put weight on her so I don't know if that was part of it. She went to join Bill and I'm sure he was waiting at the gate for her. We got the Donkey home. She is a hoot and I love her. I do miss Desi terribly.  Josie called for her for a couple days after she was gone. Broke my heart. But she has the colts now and she loves them. She's a great foal sitter and grandma to them.
THE DOGS:
Several more rescues. Molly if I haven't posted about her before. She's happy and she's grown more. She's a big black medium hair dog, Pyrenees,  lab and border collie supposedly.  She was dumped. I did find original owners who told me they had rehomed her to someone but didn't have info on the people. She's been with us since Spring of this year. She loves and plays so gently with the little dogs. She is a doll and I have no clue why she was dumped. So well behaved and only a couple years old.
Little Bear is our newest. He is a chiweenie and Yorkie mix. Cute as all get out and big personality.  So very smart too.
Gidget is doing great. She is my bouncing ball of energy.

Emergency Case

Got a dog in the clinic in emergency. Her core body temp was 108. We packed her in ice packs, turned fans on and sprayed paw pads with rubbing alcohol many times. She made it so far. We got it to drop to normal pretty quick. She could walk when she got there but she did walk out. A little shaky but good. She's not out of the woods yet. She needed to be watched closely and no one is at the clinic all night. Hopefully she will still be ok come tomorrow. 🙏

UPDATE 10/25/2023
SHE PASSED AWAY.

What A Shame

I got to thinking tonight about a lot of things as I was posting pictures of some of my accomplishments. It's a real shame that my birth vessel can't see the person I grew into. Not only do I have an amazing herd of very nice horses, I've bought my own SUV by myself, and still have my pickup. I've also moved into being a cattle rancher. Never thought I'd ever do that but here I am being successful in that as well. Yes horses and cattle. I've also been in the medical field for years. I was doing in home health for a long time before finally breaking into my chosen field of veterinary medicine.  I've done wonderfully and feel like I've found my place. It's not just a job, it is my life. Nothing makes me happier.
I dabble, ok really it's jumped in with both feet in rescue of unwanted, abandoned,  abused, injured etc., animals, domestic and wild. It's heartbreaking sometimes but it's very rewarding.  My body suffers from all my accomplishments though. It is worth ever ache and pain.
Updates: so cattle are doing well. We are making new horse pens to accommodate the horses for shelter before winter. I've got several old ones, plus the 3 new foals. It's looking great. Always improvements to be made. Here I am 60 years old and rocking it. I'm very proud.  Coming up is more updates on everyone.

Life

Life is good. I spent some time out with the herd horses today. I needed it. Apparently they knew because Pistol and Peaches and Lacie would not leave my side. They followed me, which is uncommon for Pistol, well all 3 really.
Lacie is all better, now just to figure out what is going on with Trick. He is pulled up in his flanks. Everything I've read says he needs probiotic supplement. Tomorrow he will get it.
Everyone else is doing good. I let Pera and Belle out to pasture to fatten up. I need to get the teeth floating tool to do their teeth.
Tomorrow it's back to work.
