Interesting History

Its really strange and very creepy to think something like this happened on our place.

Wes was working on fence Friday and a gentleman drove up along side the road and started talking to him. Apparently it was his ex inlaws that built the house. Ok interesting enough........ Well let me back up a little bit........

Someone had once told me that there was a man that once lived in the house, had cattle and one day killed his cattle and went to Dockery and killed himself................

Well that isan't exactly true. The man that build our house (the house was built in the 70's, the woman we bought it from had it for 17 years, we have been there 2 years so we are now talking 20+ years ago) apparently went bat shit crazy one day and took everything out of the house and put it in the barn. (Not the barn that is there now) Well after putting all the household stuff in the barn he also put all the animals in the barn, locked it up and burned it down!!!!!! Now this makes my skin crawl.
I do not know what kind of animals or how many. Wes didn't ask for obvious reasons..........he didn't want to know. I don't blame him.

The man said he thought about buying the house when it came up for sale but decided that his now ex wife (Daughter of the crazy man that burned down the barn) was just as crazy so he decided not to buy the house. This is really kind of discomforting to be honest. We do not know what became of the  man that burned down the barn/build the house. Wes didn't ask. We don't know if he killed himself for just moved on or what. So some history of the place is now coming to light.

To Funny

Ok so I am scrolling through fb (as usual) and I run across a fb friend (no I do not know them in person, she friended me because of my horses) and her post is a pic of Donald Trump and it is captioned "If you support Donald Trump, Unfriend me"................. SO I DID! Oh well. Its really sad that we can't have different opinions and still be friends. I refuse to go along with what is popular at the time or think the way someone else does for the sake of a so called friendship. Am I upset? Nope not in the least. If that is the way she wants it that is fine. I actually laughed as I hit the unfriend button and thought how stupid it was to post something like that. Hell by the time election year rolls around I may not have any friends left on fb at all. LMFAO!!!! That's ok, I am good with my own company.

Baby Royal

Well I have to say I must have taken leave of my senses. Someone Wes works with asked Wes how much for Baby Royal. He said she wasn't for sale. She replied with "$3000"? He replied with she isn't for sale. Well after some thought I told him to tell her $3000 CASH No Payments. Well I am not selling her, this is a person that after the new wears off and they aren't babies anymore that's it. They no longer have interest. So Ms. Royal will stay right where she is. I do love that filly. She is getting friendlier day by day. No longer avoids me like she did at first. I am enjoying her pretty blue coat. She is a looker for sure.

Designer.......Lets Talk

Ok folks, I am getting real tired of seeing people trying to make a mint off of what I grew up knowing as MUTTS!! People are saying "Designer Breed Dog" NOOOO!!!! Its not a designer breed dog, it is a damn mutt. Now granted it may be cute as the day is long but its a mutt. And back in the day Mutts were NOT $400. Jeesh.
I had a litter of MUTTS. The father was great Pyrenees and mom was Brittany mix. I charged an adoption fee to insure that someone didn't want to use them as bait dogs or whatever unscrupulous thing they might have in mind. I sure as hell didn't call them Designer Dogs and didn't charge hundreds of dollars for them. I didn't even charge $100. It was WAY less than that.
Get a grip people! Its a freaking MUTT DOG. I am not saying mutts aren't great. The best dogs I ever had were mutts. I think they are wonderful, I just don't think people should be trying to get rich by saying HEY I HAVE A DESIGNER DOG. No you don't. Again......its a mutt.

That is all.

Welcome Charlie

Well I lost one of my cockatiel as I posted before to a dreaded raccoon. Yesterday I was given another one by a friend of mine.  Bonnie has a mate again. The picture is of yesterday when I introduced them. Tonight they are side by side in the cage. Looks like it's a success.

The Boys

Several years ago I started out with my first stallion. We will call him my starter stallion. The best thing he had going for him was that he was homozygous black and tobiano, he had crappy conformation.. He sired some pretty babies. Since then I've grown and learned a lot about what a great stallion prospect is. Last year I got 2 very beautiful weanlings that have grown up together and have continued to bloom and turn out to be such correct junior stallions.
I love the fact that they live together. They eat together, play together and they are very close. We have his and hers stallions. Bo is Wes' and Pistol is mine.
The boys don't fight when the girls are around. I love raising the boys. They are turning out wonderfully and I'm very proud of our boys.

Crisp Morning

Wow its nice outside. Went out to feed and burrrr. But thats ok. The only thing is that this is AUGUST! You know the Dog Days of Summer? Well so much for dog days and heat. Its not suppose to be this cool in August so it makes me wonder if we aren't in big trouble for winter. Thank goodness I have round bales scattered throughout my entire yard. LOL. Its a beautiful morning though and some of the horses were grazing and others were laying down napping. Kai sure sleeps hard. Guess he is still growing. The boy is BIG!

Yesterday when Melissa was over she pointed at Rebel and Diamond and said "Who is this?" I turned around and said "Who?" She said "these two", I told her that it was Rebel and Diamond. She said no way. She hadn't seen Rebel in years and had only seen Diamond in pictures. She said "They are huge". Yep they are and both of them are attached at the hip. Diamond does not stray to far from Rebel.

Peaches is back in my good graces. I went out to feed this morning and she started getting to close (in my bubble) and I put my hand up and she backed and backed and backed. That was a good thing to see. She is learning. I can't wait until I can take her out on the trails.

I guess Melissa got home with Heathen and decided she was going for another ride. LOL. It nice to see her happy and relaxed. She has been way to tense. She needed something she could just take out and go without worry. Heathen is it for sure. I asked how her ride went and she said great. Heathen is already starting to bond with her. Its a good match. Now for them just to get in tune to each other. Heathen is very light and they just need time. Although I don't think they will need much time. It seems to be happening fast.

Loved the ride yesterday though fields and woods. Even riding in the direct sun was cool because there was such a nice gentle wind blowing, then in the woods where it was shaded it was even better, and did I mention it was beautiful? Everyone is always posting pictures of their rides so we started taking pictures of our rides. I usually get so caught up in the ride I forget to take pictures. Its just a time to relax. Heck I didn't even take my phone yesterday and I told Wes I was not taking it. There is just no good place to carry it. Oh well.

Time to get some things done. More later. Have a great day everyone. Its going to be beautiful.

Heathen

Heathen is home at Melissa's.

Congratulations Melissa

You have a gorgeous, smart and very well trained horse.
Special thanks to the Kerwin' s
For the fabulous training.
Kerwin Performance Horses.

Nice ride today

Melissa bought the most wonderful mare today from Jennifer. Since it was so close she came to the house and I grabbed Trick and we went for a 2 hour ride on her new mare. Heathen was perfect. Thanks to Kerwin Performance Horses for the training done on Heathen. There were gun shot where we rode and Trick got jittery but not Heathen. She was calm like they weren't even happening. Crossed water as did Trick, no issues. The ride was fantastic and beautiful.  Couldn't have been a nicer day for it. Here are some pics. We were mostly in remote areas but with gunshots we came back via the road. Perfect day.

Bad Start to the Day

Ok so it was nice and cool this morning. I walk out to see Wes off to work as usual and notice that Clyde ( as in my cockatiels Bonnie and Clyde) is laying in the bottom of the cage. There is blood, a lot of blood. There are feathers on the outside of the cage. I am going to take an educated guess that the DOGS went on a run (instead of being on the porch) and a raccoon came up on the porch, I have seen many lately, and got ahold of Clyde. Bonnie is ok, she survived an attack about 5 years ago and only has one wing. I am actually surprised she is ok. Now I have to move her over to Pretty Boy Floyd's cage so she won't be lonely. She has always had a mate. The birds will be moved back into the house this evening. They have never been bothered before.
So let this serve as notice that I am in a very foul mood and anyone wishing to add to that will more than likely be promptly removed from my life at this point. I am sick of bullshit. Poke the bear and the bear will poke back.

What a Beautiful Morning

Ahhh..........cool crisp morning. I actually think we can shut off the air conditioner for tonight as well. It is so nice this morning despite the cloud cover. It just feels good. The horses are feeling really good with it being so cool as well. I wish I had gotten pictures this morning, they were down in the pasture and looked so comfortable and content, but then they always do except for when the bugs start bothering them. Looks like for the next couple days they will be bug free for the most part. YAY!

Royal is coming around a lot since I pulled she and Belle up from the pasture. I scratched her butt this morning. She has almost turned all blue roan. (just in time for her to put on her winter coat)

Its a good day to go play with horses.

Long weekend at the lake

We went to the lake for the weekend. It was a long weekend as I took the day off Friday so we could go out Thursday night. I love to go to the lake. We had lots of family out there, some friends of mine came out for dinner one night, lots of fishing, swimming and laying around. It was great. The lake water was as warm as a bath which didn't make for real refreshing until you got out. Then it was nice and cool. Nights were nice and cool and made for some very good sleeping weather. We never did put the top tent flap on so each night I went to sleep looking up at the stars. We even got to see some of the meteor showers. We watched the international space station fly over two of our nights out there.
Thursday night fishing was great. We fished until a little after 1 a.m. After that fishing sucked. There was way to much activity on the lake not to mention they let some water out so that messed everything up. We still had a good time though. Our campsite was right by the water which was really nice. Where we usually camp we have to walk a bit but this was like our own private little beach area (there was no sand just rocks). Nightly campfires were nice, card games and just general relaxing and sitting outside.
We got home on Sunday morning, everyone at home was fantastic and Wes and I were exhausted. Its pretty bad when you are more tired from a mini vacation than you were before you left for said vacation. I was asleep by 7:30 p.m. (very unlike me) but it was well worth it. The dogs were super happy to see us home. The horses I don't think even knew we were gone. No one did anything stupid but then I had a good friend come check on and take care of things as well. My guinea keets grew so much in 3 days. They are doing great. Can't wait till they are all grown up. I want more.
Well that's it for now. It was a great weekend.
