Ick part two

Well it's raining and snow appears to be on the way. Wes is sleeping because I'm sure he will be called in to work so I came downstairs to watch tv and only took about three hours to figure out how to get the sound back on with the surround sound.
Note to self: don't buy someone things that you can not operate.

Horses seem to be doing very well with the nasty weather. They have been at the protein tub on and off most of the day. They really like it. It's from Kent and I like its ingredients. It has minerals in it to.

Well calling it a night. It's alkaseltzer time which knocks me on my ass.

Ick

The weather is sucking. It's been raining all day. Dumbass horses won't use the barn. I did go get a 250 lb protein tub and Wes put it in the shelter with the tractor so it would stay dry. They all loved it. They are all taking turns at it. Need to get a smaller one for Cat, Josie and the boys. They still have some in their two buckets but they are just about gone. It's cold and that damp bone chilling feeling is sneaking up.

Puppies got moved downstairs. I took my kitchen back. They have a nice area downstairs though. They love their stuffed toys. A little spoiled they are.

Got dinner in the oven and it's gonna be good. Making rolls, they are rising right now.

Wes will likely have to go into work tonight. He had to be there at 4 this morning which means I was up at 3 with him.

After feeding it will be blanket and tv time. Washing puppy blankets today.

Puppies

Vet Check Trip

Belle will be going to the vet to be sono'd. She was bred but we want to make sure she is in foal and know approx. due date. We have breeding dates but Jennifer and I would like to narrow it down. Belle will be foaling at her place this year.
I also asked the vet about Cat's caslicks. Turns out its cheap to get them out so they will be removed.
Cinder will be palpated to see if she is in foal as well. Mixed feelings about wanting her to be or not to be. I think she would have a cutie pie but not sure its the time for a foal this year. I have the foaling stall so its really not an issue.

Weather is changing back to crap. Hope everyone enjoyed the nice days because I think they are over till spring. Thank goodness that spring is just around the corner.

Cat is doing great still. She isn't going to want her blanket back on but from what the weather says its going to be mandatory for her and Josie. The boys are doing great without theirs. The pasture horses are doing great without theirs.

I am getting square bales for the pasture horses for now. I hay them twice a day plus out on pasture but it is not cost efficient for them to be going through a round bale in 24 hours. Pigs. They are all FAT! No reason for them to be going through it so fast. Its just a matter of competition I think. Just like kids. You can't have more than me. So they stand there and eat the entire time. The boys, Cat and Josie will go back to their dry lot for now so the pasture horses can come up and utilize the barn for this nasty weather coming in. I hope this summer to have a shelter put out in the pasture for them.

Well that's it for now. More later when I have the time.

Holy Backman

Seeing an awful lot of the chiropractor lately. Apparently its not a "being out of place" thing, its apparently a disc thing. He has changed my therapy and now puts me on a stretching machine. I will put it this way, it brought me to tears and I DO NOT CRY! Surprisingly enough though it did provide some relief. I still need some pain meds, aleve is NOT doing the trick and he said it wouldn't because its a disc and nerves are involved. THIS SUCKS.
It doesn't stop me, I am not down. I am still doing what I always do but just not lifting feed or hay right now. I do get help with that. I don't think anything good comes out of most back surgeries so that is not an option. I will continue therapy and be careful. I hope this summer getting back to riding will improve things as it works muscles and strengthens them. I will still RIDE CAT.

I think tonight will be a cookie night. I just need some comfort food tonight. Wes has been my super hero with helping me. God knows how much I love that man. Not because he helps, that's a bonus, but because of who he is and the way he is and HE CARES!

Someone coming to look at puppies this weekend to pick one out. YAY. They are 3 weeks old today, not ready to go for another 3 to 4 weeks but they are going to pick what they want. They are very excited. They have children and will keep the puppies busy and the puppies will keep the kids busy. I think they might consider 2 of them.

I am very tired so gonna go for now

Looking Back Last Night

Last night as I went out and fed the horses, I was looking everyone over. So many of them I have had for so many years, so many of them came to me in less than perfect condition, yet they have come such a long way.  As much as it kills me I don't "rescue" anymore. I'd love to do some more but the ones that I have done in the last year and the ones that I have done over the years I still have and I will keep. I can't just take them in, invest my time, money and mostly my heart into them and then turn around and sell them. This is a reason I work. Yes I work. Its not fair for Wes to have to do everything. I work. I do it to help out, I do it to support my passion that he also shares in, I do it so that he isn't so burdened by everything and I do it so I can buy him things as well. I work close to home and its very flexible. I can pop home if I want daily for whatever arises. I didn't work for a while...............I got bored. I do, however, miss all the cooking I use to do. It was more elaborate than it is now, and everything is on such a time schedule. I have good friends that will deliver or set out my round bales for me if I am not there, I have a wonderful neighbor that checks on everyone every time they go by the house which makes things easier on me if I have turned horses into a new turnout area. They love the horses to and get a lot of enjoyment out of watching them grow and change. I am so very glad we moved out here.
I looked back through pictures of Cat from just a few months ago. Its hard to believe she is the same horse. I have frequently looked back at pictures of Kai. He looks nothing like he did either.
Cat is bonding with me more and more daily. She is learning how to be a country horse finally. Not just a stalled horse that the only reason she came out was to RUN! She is following me more, she is letting me catch her now, she is going to be a gentle giant. She has calmed down more and continues to do so. I can't wait till spring/summer. I want to go galloping across the field on her, not running, just a nice gallop. I have become very attached to her in a very unexplainable way.

Life is good. Wes is well. He is getting a very special birthday present from me this year. I got tickets to take him to see Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band. Of course its going to take me a month to pay for them but hey I got them. He is worth it in so many ways. He is so caring and I so enjoy being around him all the time. We enjoy doing so many things together. He really is a dream come true, our life together is a dream come true. He came into my life when there was so much darkness and I was ready to give up. I am so blessed and so thankful for him. Ok enough goosh.

All the horses are doing wonderfully. Its amazing to me that they do so well on less acreage than what I use to live on. I guess that is because I wasn't allowed to manage them as I saw fit before. Wes and I have the same outlook on managing horses. They are all so fat and so healthy and so sweet. I can't wait to get back to riding. I am a bit short on time right now for that but I will get back to it. Its just nice to be able to go out and love on them and see the ones that weren't so loveable completely change into something so sweet and kind.

This summer will mean more riding, Wes and I together. I want us to get back to doing more of everything. I think its important for us to do more things outside of the farm. I am sure Wes has thought up some more projects. He is so good that way. I still just love our new/old cabinets that he refinished from the old house and put in our new home.

Amanda is doing wonderfully out in Arizona. It was the best possible move for her. I have never seen her do so well. She is so very happy and that does my heart good. I miss her and Anjeleena like crazy but I know this is what is best for them both. She has a wonderful job that I am sure she will be at forever. She needed a place to "belong" and there she more than belongs. I think she is working something out like a contract for deed on a home. I am ssoooooo proud of her and the accomplishments and the things that she has overcome in the last year. She has done amazing. I hope to see her this spring. Its hard living so far apart. Its been a little over a year now since she left. Seems like its been longer. I do talk to her or text with her almost daily though. It makes it better. We have our occasional 2 hours chats on the phone. Its nice to catch up and hear what is going on in her life. She and Clint have some obsticales to overcome but they aren't to difficult. They all go to church and it seems that my daughter has found her faith. Something I think she needed all along. Can't wait till she comes home to visit with Anje.

Well the puppies are growing like weeds. They are climbing out of their whelping box now and we are going to have to move them this weekend. Haven't really decided what the best plan of attack is on that. They will start eating gruel this weekend as well. I can't believe they are going to be 3 weeks old tomorrow. Time has flown. Maggie continues to be a great mother, but I can't wait to get her spayed. I do NOT want to go through this again. I think Wes and I have a favorite. Not sure what that means. LOL. I will get updated pictures of them this weekend when they are running around their new area. The light just isn't good for pictures where they are right now. They are to cute. (And up for adoption)

Well I need to get busy doing stuff so I will save the rest for a later post.
Everyone have a great day and enjoy whats left of the good temps outside. We will pay for such nice weather I am sure.

More pictures

Cat sure has done a major turn around. She is doing fabulous and I can't wait till spring.

I am so proud of this girl

Pistol sharing with his favorite granny horse

Bo looking a bit bored or maybe its because there is feed and I won't stop bugging him. LOL
Bella sure has turned into a nice youngster. She will be a piece of cake this spring to ride. I can't wait.

Josie has done amazing the last couple years since I found what works for her. She will be around 29 years old this year, maybe 30. She looks great and is enjoying retirement.

Little Miss Cinder. Such a sweet girl. Will start her this spring as well.

Belle, looking very portly and pregnant. She will be foaled out at a friends this spring.

Kai is doing wonderfully. Full weight back and living the life as he should have all along. I started him last summer but didn't do to much because of the condition he was in when I got him. I wanted to give him a year. He will be 4 this year and we will do more this summer.

Rebel the ham. Yes Rebel we see you. Its hard to believe I have had you for so many years now. I think we are coming up on 9 or 10 years now. WOW.

Cat and Bo eating together. Heck they all have separate feeders but they all share with each other too. Its ok, there is plenty of feed put out and no one does without enough to eat.

The herd came up to get some hay I threw out before the round bale got there. They are all so fat they waddle. And yes I love my fat horses. Big debate on fat vs skinny. I will take fat any day. My horses are never sick or in ill health so I am doing something right.
So far we haven't needed blankets for everyone. Josie and Cat wear theirs but that is because Cat was in poor condition and Josie is very senior.
Maggie decided to take a break from the puppies.................on my bed. Hummm a huge sense of entitlement.

Another of Cat enjoying the day out with her blanket off.

Bo also enjoying the day out in the pasture. This one has destroyed 2 brand new blankets. There will not be a 3rd.

Just can't get over how much better she is looking. She is starting to come around to farm life rather than race track life. I am sure it is going to take a while but she is a very happy horse. She loves to run and buck and rear and play. She expresses her happiness so boldly. She is also coming around regarding being pet. She use to avoid everyone that wanted to touch her. I am sure her history has something to do with that. She now is starting to follow me and want my attention. She is warming up to Wes as well. I think she is learning we are not going to hurt her. The others are showing her how to be a country horse. She is still jumpy but that will be something we work out this summer.

Sweet Bella. built like her momma.

Tyberious.........sneeked into the mancave. He is such a good guardian dog. He fathered some of the puppies. The puppies are now trying to climb out of the whelping box and some have succeeded. Almost time to move to the laundry room. They will start eating gruel in about another week. They sure are cute.

Sadie enjoying some sun. She sure has come around in the last year. When we bought the house we inherited her with it. She wouldn't come to people, was terrified of them. Now she comes in and out of the house. Perfectly house broken, asks to go out, asks to come in and is a wonderful dog.

Big old goof.
Doing his job.
Brutus.......he was the one I almost lost. He pulled through by some miracle. We sure are glad he did.
Maggie, outside time away from the kids.
Man Caving it.
Tinker helping out in the man cave. Boy do we need to have a garage sale.

Bo also known as Far Side Kid. Both his AQHA and APHA papers are in.
