Updates on everyone

Well this entry was actually on July 7, 2023 just forgot to publish it. So I got the mustangs and donkey home from our dear departed friend Bill. Everyone has found an amazing home. Today Doc went to some very special people. She is already making more headway with him than I could. There have only been a few horses I've ever had that I couldn't get them to come around because I was just not the right person for them. Doc was Bill's and is a Mustang from Bureau of Land Management so yes a very real Mustang, branded and out of the wild. He is a sweet boy, I was just not the right person for me. I also gave Faith to their 3 yr old son to learn the love of horses on. She has heaves and can't be ridden much of a distance but will be super for her 3 yr old. She is sweet as pie and all her meds and supplements went with her. She was a gift.
Luke, Jinx and Drifter are growing like weeds, finally coming around and they keep Josie company and she loves them so very much. They are good for the old lady. I've had her now for 30 years. She is late 30's or 40 yrs old now. Nothing wrong with her, just a bit harder to keep her weight up. We keep her happy.
Desi, the crippled mustang mare, we did have to put her down. She got down and couldn't get her up. I had put weight on her so I don't know if that was part of it. She went to join Bill and I'm sure he was waiting at the gate for her. We got the Donkey home. She is a hoot and I love her. I do miss Desi terribly.  Josie called for her for a couple days after she was gone. Broke my heart. But she has the colts now and she loves them. She's a great foal sitter and grandma to them.
THE DOGS:
Several more rescues. Molly if I haven't posted about her before. She's happy and she's grown more. She's a big black medium hair dog, Pyrenees,  lab and border collie supposedly.  She was dumped. I did find original owners who told me they had rehomed her to someone but didn't have info on the people. She's been with us since Spring of this year. She loves and plays so gently with the little dogs. She is a doll and I have no clue why she was dumped. So well behaved and only a couple years old.
Little Bear is our newest. He is a chiweenie and Yorkie mix. Cute as all get out and big personality.  So very smart too.
Gidget is doing great. She is my bouncing ball of energy.

Emergency Case

Got a dog in the clinic in emergency. Her core body temp was 108. We packed her in ice packs, turned fans on and sprayed paw pads with rubbing alcohol many times. She made it so far. We got it to drop to normal pretty quick. She could walk when she got there but she did walk out. A little shaky but good. She's not out of the woods yet. She needed to be watched closely and no one is at the clinic all night. Hopefully she will still be ok come tomorrow. 🙏

UPDATE 10/25/2023
SHE PASSED AWAY.

What A Shame

I got to thinking tonight about a lot of things as I was posting pictures of some of my accomplishments. It's a real shame that my birth vessel can't see the person I grew into. Not only do I have an amazing herd of very nice horses, I've bought my own SUV by myself, and still have my pickup. I've also moved into being a cattle rancher. Never thought I'd ever do that but here I am being successful in that as well. Yes horses and cattle. I've also been in the medical field for years. I was doing in home health for a long time before finally breaking into my chosen field of veterinary medicine.  I've done wonderfully and feel like I've found my place. It's not just a job, it is my life. Nothing makes me happier.
I dabble, ok really it's jumped in with both feet in rescue of unwanted, abandoned,  abused, injured etc., animals, domestic and wild. It's heartbreaking sometimes but it's very rewarding.  My body suffers from all my accomplishments though. It is worth ever ache and pain.
Updates: so cattle are doing well. We are making new horse pens to accommodate the horses for shelter before winter. I've got several old ones, plus the 3 new foals. It's looking great. Always improvements to be made. Here I am 60 years old and rocking it. I'm very proud.  Coming up is more updates on everyone.
