The Family Horses

Lets start with:

1. Josie 36 yrs old Arabian. Had her for over 25 years. Bought for my daughter when my daughter was about 13 yrs old.

2. Frog 28 yrs old AQHA, inherited from a friend that passed to let her live her life out here until she crosses to be with her owner

3. Rio 3 yr old, breed unknown as he was bought as an orphan there were many many many more. I got him from friends that were keeping him here and I fell in love.

4. Newt 3 yrs old. APHA, performance bred, dunskin overo,  got him from my best friend and I have his full brother Spartan too.

5. Spartan 2 year old APHA performance bred dunskin overo and full brother to Newt. Both are ultra sweet. I've had both since they were weanlings.

6. Diamond aka Sissy: 7 yrs old, born here, sold to a friend of mine  and recently bought her back. Finishing up her training and she is the full sister to RT All Tricked Out aka Trick. Diamond should have been registered APHA but breeder is a unscrupulous breeder and businessman. So happy to have Sis home. She is solely a one rider horse which will be me and only me. She's just that way.

7. Faith 12ish yrs old, maybe younger, grade tobiano paint mare, outstanding trail horse that anyone can ride but is one of top dogs in the herd and mareish except when she's under saddle. Was given to me, previous owner could afford her care any longer.

8. Rebel has to be about 12 yrs old now, AQHA, 16 hands. I got him when he was 18 months old  trained him myself but he is a pasture pet now. He is so powerful it intimidates me but I'd never part with him ever.

9. Cat 10 yrs old. Registered Jockey Club, off the track, was a rescue and skin n bones when she was rescued. My bff got her, I put her in a state of Dibs if it didn't work out and I've had her about 6 years now. I have ridden her but she has trust issues and it took a year or more to learn how to be a regular horse and now trusts us and we can walk up and pet her and she comes to us now but it was a long time coming. She will never leave our home. She has friends in the herd and is happy and healthy.  I love her.

10. Willow: was adopted from a rescue by us, long tedious story on her but it ended up in court and the settled out of court with me because I'd done nothing wrong and my attorney proved it. Yes I do hire my attorney for my horses if need be. I still have her and always will.

11. Ice: 4 yrs old, is Willows foal, was born here and still lives here and always will. Product of escaped stallion. She's sweet and a pasture pet.

12. Pera: 19 yrs old, hubby's horse that I bought for him about 4 years ago. She is APHA and definitely HIS mare. She loves him. It took her months to settle in as previous owners hsd her for 12 years and she didn't handle the change well but we finally had a break through and she is a fabulous trail horse. Happy now and he just loves her.

13. Loki coming yearling, was born here, should be registered APHA, overo, Champagne, breeder is being a bitch because I refuse to sell him to her. He is spitting image of his sire and she won't give me paperwork to register him because she wanted him. She sold me his batshit crazy dam without full disclosure on a lot of things including the 3 yr old dam being in foal. I had to help deliver him or would have lost both. Sold the batshit crazy mare. Story continues, however I'll stop here. Bad enough that I was threatened.

14. Trick 15 yrs old. I've had him since he was 4 yrs old. Brother to Diamond. He is my main riding horse. Have spent this year 2020 saving him from a snake bite. He is better now but he is still up from the pasture.

15. Tonka coming 2 yr old, gave to my BFF, is a paint, grade, gelding. He is half brother to Loki. Both sired by Hotshot Ashwood. Tonka is part percheron on mom's side.

16. Belle 23 yrs old. Solid APHA breeding stock. I've had her many many yrs. Over 10 yrs. She's retired and lives happily with the her, her daughter who is my blue roan mare and the last foal she had. (Rescue)

17. Royal 7 yrs old APHA breeding stock blue roan mare. Was born here. Finishing up her training as well. She's a tank and my super sweet girl. I love her so much.

18. Kai is I think 7 or 8 yrs old now. Breeder is POS and never registered him just like Diamond. Same breeder. Kai is gray overo and one of our trail riding horses. He was a rescue, bag of bones and wasn't sure he'd like but he grew into a tank of a horse. He has his best buddies in the herd and loves to play.(Rescue)

19. Lacey APHA and I've had her so long I'd have to look and see her foaling date but pretty sure she's about 17 years old. She is gray overo and a pasture ornament. Had a beautiful foal for me once. The filly was sold to a veterinarian for her breeding program. Lacey will always be here.

20. Pistol 8 yrs old. APHA bay overo. Finishing his training as well. Had him since he was a weanling from my bff.

21. Peaches also from my bff, APHA overo, without looking I'd say 9 yrs old. Thick mare, spoiled mare. Mostly just lives her princess life here. Has been ridden but is not finished. She'll always be here just like everyone else.

22. River, rescue, approximately 12 to 15 yrs old, been passed around a lot because he is a black frame overo. Has been beaten, cowboyed. Etc. Those days are over. He immediately attached to me. I haven't ridden him yet. I've had him 2 years. Always wanted a horse like him. Grade as far as anyone knows, passed around so much thst original history is unknown. Sweet as the day is long. We will ride one of these days.

Miniatures

23. Rascal 2 or 3 yrs old, traded bff another mini for Rascal.

24. Mae from bff

25. Annie born here

26. Louise, rescue, use to pull a miniature budweiser wagon with Thelma. Both are aged. One being 31 yrs old, the other 21 yrs old. Retired with some health issues.

27. Thelma, rescue. See above ^

28. Bebe from my bff

Diamond Update

Training is coming right along. We rode yesterday and today. Today she graduated to the arena where I set up barrels. She was a snot at first but we did some trotting laps around the arena.  It's bigger and lots more freedom. I need to improve my seat which would be easier if the saddle didn't slip so much today.
I'm very proud of Diamond and her progress. Her reining is awful but getting better. We have ridden almost every day. It has done wonders.  We didn't warm up first just went to arena,  saddled up and worked out the kinks as we went. It worked.

Royal

Royal, another one of my born and raised here girls. Royal is well started and my trainer has ridden her once before having to move. Nice thing us my trainers are moving back and he is voing to put a few more rides on Royal for me and I'll finish her.
I am refreshing and retraining Diamond myself. I need the confidence. I use to train all the time until an accident that has taken years to overcome. I can honestly say in the last week I've overcome a lot of it. I can still train and I can still ride although a bit rusty.
The days of excuses not to ride are over. As ling as weather holds out, I'm ending this jacked up 2020 year on a good note.
I love doing this. Wish I could do it full time.
I'm so proud of now grown girls.
Can't wait to see how my carbon copy, mini version of Hotshot. My other Hotshot foal is going to my bff, he lives here right now and is doing groundwork and learns quick. He is an easy boy to work with. She's incredibly happy with him.

Diamond Training

It feels so good to be training again and especially riding one of my foals that was born and raised here.

I had sold Diamond 2 years ago to a friend and got the opportunity to buy her back.

She's coming along wonderfully and I love her so much. She for sure outgrew her brother Trick. She got her mom's size. Trick got dads size. They both have the same sire and dam. Diamond is so big I have to use a step to get on her. She's even bigger than Royal.

These pictures are from today and we did some walk and trot. I'm so incredibly proud of her. Her trot is very smooth.
She is a beautiful bay mare. She grew up really nicely.  She will follow in her brothers footsteps when he retires from being ridden. Trick will spend his retirement here. All the horses I have here will remain here. All the ones that could be started riding that were born here have started under saddle and riding are except for Ice.
Loki, my carbon copy Hotshot colt won't be ready for two and a half years. In the meantime, we play and enjoy withers being scratched.

Just AGH!!!

Watching two 80 year olds try to do bills is maddening. I swear it's like wating two preschoolers color the same page. They have zero clue what thry are doing. One trying to tell the other whst to do when he has zero clue and can no longer even spell "hundred" and if anyone tries to help he just yells at you and tells you he's done it forever, which he hasn't,  she's always done it, but he just tries to take over. Paying 4 bills, two hours.
They seriously need to be put in a home and someone else needs to take over doing everything.  This is absolutely ridiculous!
I'm so over this!

Diamond

I am over the moon happy to welcome home my beautiful Diamond.  She is Trick's full sister that was once referred to as a $25 foal. Well folks, this right here is NOT a $25 horse. I rode her after she got home today. It's like riding her brother Trick only bigger. I missed her more than I realized. She's been gone for 2 years. She will never leave again. She just wasn't happy being anywhere but here. She acts like she's never left. Herd remembers her, she remembers them.
When I almost lost Trick this spring I regretted having sold her. Now she's home to stay. Yes another horse but since she was born here and Trick's sister she is very special to me. My heart is full even if my bank account isn't.  :)

Frog

Frog enjoing the new arena and months after I got her. Looks so much better. Weight gain is tremendous.

Trick

RT All Tricked Out aka Trick aka Mr Snakebite is doing fabulous.
His weight is good, bloodwork good, still a little jumpy for some reason. He is still up getting grained and hay. He may not got back out t o pasture and doesn't seem to mind it. For the most part he is back to normsl. Not sure he will grow hsir back on part of his face. Time will tell. He did develop a good winter coat but still seems to get cold easier so he has willingly accepted a winter blanket, which he never use to. To say he is unchanged from the snake bite wouldn't 100% true. I see little differences having had him for 12 almost 13 years. I've ridden him bareback this fall and he was his normal self. It was a short ride in his turnout. I will staft him in the arena I just put up in the spring to test the waters.
He is an amazing horse. My heart, my horse, my special bond. Does not take away at all from my love of my others but Trick has always been special.

These are pictures from a few days ago. A far cry and massive improvement over what he was before during his illness. At one point I was hand feeding him mush.
I truly love my Trick.

Randoms

My little, not so little, man is growing so fast and has the best demeanor and so loving and sweet unlike his evil mother.
He is very close to his half brother Tonka. They hang out together. Tonka is the typical big brother. Puts Loki in his place when needed. These pictures were taken yesterday by Tonkas mom Jennifer. She came to visit her boy.
Tonka is funny, if he doesn't know you he is stand offish until he does. It's ok, Jen is working on him getting use to her. She loves him. He will have all her attention and have everything.
I think it all worked out great. Loki has turned out to be mine anyway. I scratch his favorite stop and he puckers that lip. He is an amazing colt. It helps when they sre so imprinted from the minute they hit the ground. Spring he will be gelded. He is going to be a grand horse for sure. All the foals I've gotten or had born here the last couple years have turned out to be the most wonderful babies I've ever had.

My beautiful little man

He is so regal and has such a long beautiful stride, carries himself very well. He can also collect up so well naturally.

Riding Last Night

Went riding last night on Pera and a friend of mine rode Faith. It was a great ride but today I'm paying for it. Right hip still out of place and hurts.
Going to get my other riding pen put up and do more riding with the ones that need finished. Might even get back to riding Rebel.
Need to start Newt, finish Royal, ground work with Spartan,  continue ground work with Rio.
Have been working with Arius.
Faith is perfect, Trick and Pera are perfect, Josie is retired, Frog is retired, Kai rides and isn't far from being finished just needs more wet blankets, Pistol needs to have his first fide, all his ground work is done, Peaches......well probably need to start over on her with refresher. Willow is broke to ride but hasn't been ridden in 3 years so she might remain a pet. Cat is to traumatized to do trails.
So much to do. Wish I had a small indoor arena.

Beautiful Evening

With a blood red sunset and the herd enjoying the perfect fall evening tonight.
Such a colorful pasture.

Hotshot Jr

My Hotshot Ashwood colt, all legs, it's the first thing everyone notices. He's a fabulous boy. He's a sweetheart and a complete love bug. He has one hell of a stride, speed and can turn and stop on a dime. Very athletic and talented boy.
