I am sick of working with the lack of work ethic generation. The ones that apparently want to earn their paycheck by sitting there playing on their phones and doing nothing while ONE person , me, is up doing all the work. I walked into a treatment room yesterday to find the 20 yr old sucking down her drink just standing there when 2 cages needed to be cleaned, I cleaned them while she turned to face the sink and start to do something to look busy. I get to work half hour early to get everything up and running, get things cleaned up from messes during the night, walk dogs, give meds, feed and water. The 20 yr old, btw, makes more than I do but not for long. This only happens when the office manager I'd not there. They are goofing off, I'm answering the phones, sweeting, vacuuming starting after the last patient is seen and gone. They, yes there are 2 of them, think that waiting until an hour before closing is the time to start doing stuff. I have done massive amounts of laundry all day and put it away, yes whilst they do a lot of jacking around. Then the older one decides to pop off at the mouth to me. Not appreciated. I am 58 yrs old soon to be 59. My work ethic is as it should be especially since this is a business that I grew up in and there are expectations of how things should be. Learned it growing up. The generation now is pathetic. I have a 20 yr old granddaughter that has work ethic like her mom and myself. It's what I taught my daughter and what she taught her daughter. She is far more mature than the ones I work with that are her age or a few years older. At 6:07 I left the office while the other 2 were still there. I'm not baby sitting. There are clients that set appointments and request that appointments are on days that I'm there. That says something!
My time off is precious to me because work is stressful and it is necessary for me to recharge. I'd rather work there by myself every Friday than put up with the attitude I get every single Friday. They need to grow up. They need a foot in their ass.
