Looks like we are finally getting a break in weather. I hope to get some riding done. I am in the process of formulating a plan where the boys have their area fenced and I can take all the round pen panels and make an average size arena. I have 2 round pens so it should be pretty easy. Then I can work the horses in there.
No more snake eggs found as of yet. No more snakes either. UGH!
Well now Cat is limping. Have no clue as to why. I have cleaned out her hoof, checked her leg, checked her shoulder. This came up overnight BUT I do see where a top rail of one of the round pen panels is bent now and now I wonder if the boys and the girls got into a play match over the panels and Cat pulled something. Now I could only check her after 10 solid minutes of chasing her around. Its funny though because we do this whole chase thing, I don't give up, I just keep following her and then all of a sudden she just stops and stands there and lets me halter her. It is a game I guess but the strangest thing ever and she can't be to lame because she could boot scoot all she wanted when she was making me case her. TWIRP!
Royal is growing like a weed. I need to get her and Belle brought in and start creep feeding Royal. Not that she needs it because she doesn't appear to but I want her to have it so she grows all she can.
NOW.....here is something I never thought I'd find myself saying.........I have reached my limit! Yes folks, I was offered 2 horses, both broke to ride, both trail ridden for years, had to be rehomed together as they have been together for 20 years (yes they are older) and I thought and thought about it. I talked to Wes about it and he didn't say no. But I told him come winter that is 3 horses that I have to make warm food for, blanket and then there is Trick who puts everyone new through hell before they are allowed in the herd. I told the woman that I would do it as a last resort but if she found a suitable place and people that could pass all the requirements then to please let them go to them before letting them come to me.
With 2 stallions, yearlings, weanlings and the horses that are being ridden we just have enough. I don't want anymore. I have about every color I can get. This is not to say I am not going to breed because I am but it will be VERY SELECTIVE and not just willy nilly breeding. My yearling filly will start training next year, and Rebel is getting a refresher from a trainer I know well. Need to get Cat on track for being transitioned into a western riding horse. She sure has changed so much since she has come off the track. So much more like a regular horse than a race horse. She has learned the routine around the place and is very smart.
Soooo as I said I am not looking to take in anymore horses whether it is buying or whatever. Just can't do it. I really want Wes and I to take a vacation to Florida and get some relaxing done.
Wes and I went to dinner at Jennifer's and Jamie's last night. It was delicious and we had a great time. We went out and played with the horses, we all took a walk down to the HUGE pond (its so big there is a pontoon boat on it). There are fish galore in there and we are planning an evening of drowning bait soon. It was a wonderful evening for a stroll down to the water. We are all getting together Saturday night at our house for Wes' bbq ribs and spend the evening visiting. I am glad that Jennifer and Jamie have moved back to Missouri. They are thrilled that the move is FINALLY DONE! Things are coming together and the house and place are looking great. Horses are getting settled in and its a beautiful place.
Need to get Cat and Pasha to the vet to have caslicks removed so they can go back out with the herd. They can't right now because Trick is breeding in season mares even though he is a GELDING! Would someone please tell him this? I have tried and he doesn't believe me apparently. Oh well.
That's about it for now. Haven't had time to really do more pictures or good pics that I could get, I don't have the camera with me. Jeesh!! I will get some soon. Gotta get Peaches saddled up and riding again.
Everyone is doing well and I am looking forward to fall.
