ICK, YUCK and EEEEEKKKKK

Ok I don't remember if I posted about it or not on here but in the last month I killed a HUGE copperhead snake over by one of my round bales of hay. A week or so later Wes killed another one. Its mate I am sure. I have learned that they travel in pairs. Soooo, a couple weeks ago we had a friend bring our remaining round bales over from his house and he brought his big boy tractor and while he was there we had him move 2 rounds away from the burn pile. He did and Wes noticed something white under the round bale. He thought mushrooms and never gave it another thought. Well yesterday I was hanging clothes out on the line and Wes was over where he thought the mushrooms were cleaning up the nasty loose hay that was on the ground. He said honey..........I thought these were mushrooms. I said well what are they? He replied, they look like eggs of some kind. I walked over there and looked and told him that they were snake eggs. My  mind immediately went back to when I killed the copperhead close to that nest. Guessing I killed the female and she had just laid the eggs. Some were shriveled up from being exposed to the sun but others were still under the moist hay that was left when the bale was moved. Wes got them all to the surface with the pitchfork and I stepped on one. OUT POPPED A BABY SNAKE. They weren't yet able to live outside the eggs so I popped all the eggs. each containing a snake and yes they were alive. They were far enough along that they were able to be identified as baby copperheads. I counted at least 11 babies. I didn't bother to count the shriveled up ones. These were live snakes. (no longer alive now) They were all destroyed and put in the burn barrel. I can't imagine over 11 babies hatching and being in the yard where the dogs are, where I run around in sandals, where the horse pen is a stones throw from where they were. HOLY CRAP! So that was our excitement for the weekend. I am rethinking the wearing of sandals outside and I for sure watch the ground a lot better, especially when I am around the hay bales.
That was just no bueno!!!!!!!
