Cat cracks me up! She is certainly a handful. This evening I went out to the round pen to get her and take her to the barn. It's going to rain tonight. Once again she was so excited to see me that she reared up and got very happy. Turns out it's not the feed it's actually me because I didn't have her feed yet. I walked in the round pen where she and Josey had been and she immediately calmed down and came to me and let me catch her. Well Josey really wanted out but I didn't want Josey crowding her at the gate. Sooo I walked Cat out and she walked out quietly. All the way out quietly!!! Soooo after Cat and I cleared the gate here came Josey running by. Ok so can you tell me what happens to a newly off the track race horse when another horse runs by?? Well let me tell you. The first thing they think is that they are suppose to run! I mean isn't that what they were trained for? So I have Cat on the lead rope and she flags her tail and wants to run. We went in circles instead. Then we proceeded to go to the barn, prancing all the way. It was like leading one out to the track. She could have completely run over me but she didn't. She walked very nicely into her stall too. No issues with gates tonight. She is a challenge but she is learning that I am her friend and not going to hurt her and we are making strides. It may be baby steps but those are important. We just take things slow and a little at a time. It works. I honestly can't wait to ride her. I really don't know what it is about her but I really am nuts about this horse! She is getting better with desensitizing. She isn't as jumpy as she was. It's suppose to be nice this weekend so I will get some more updated pics of her.
My sweet girl!!
