Once and then no more

Today's rant. For starters I am going to say this once and only once and I don't want to hear anymore about it.
I shared something on fb regarding doing away with slaughter, then someone proceeds to insult me and my intelligence by saying whom ever came up with that (and I take it he means those that don't advocate slaughter) don't know shit about horses or the industry. Let me say that it is an insult to me that anyone would assume that just because someone does not advocate slaughter or the process that they don't know shit.
My bitch switch has been flipped.
Let me go a step further by saying that I am sick and tired of being reminded of genetic faults. Pick your poison. Almost all bloodlines have a genetic fault. Not all but most. Yes I have 2 horses that have something.  We have a stud that is hypp nh and we have a filly that is pssm positive. They are non-symptomatic, and I will insure through diet and health measures that they will continue to be non-symptomatic.  I do not breed nh to nh. Not all foals born from one nh parent are nh. I have an nn gelding that was from  an nh parent. Education is key. I never will send any of my horses to slaughter. I will not ship them to sales. In other words I will take responsibility and care for my horses no matter what. Again I am sick to fuckin death of being reminded about my nh colt and how I'm wrong. That's opinion.
It is not good breeders that are sending horses to slaughter, genetics aside. There are hundreds of thousands being sent to slaughter for no good reason. I do understand that in some cases there might be a need but I will also say that I have a retired 30 year old mare that will never see a sale or slaughter house because I will take the utmost care of her as I do all the horses and when it's time she will be buried here at our family home. The genetic faults are not why there is slaughter. To think that slaughter will become a thing of the past if it no longer exists is ridiculous.  Backyard breeders breeding crap is a large reason there is slaughter. As I stated before, I realize that there are cases that make slaughter necessary.  Doesn't mean I have to like it or advocate it or the practices.
Everyone is different and that is great. It would be a boring world if we weren't.  However, it is a respect thing when you agree to disagree and there I'd no need to keep rehashing the subject. It's not going to change anything. I respect what others do, who they are, what they want or what they are trying to accomplish even if I don't agree with it all the time, As long as the proper care is taken. This is not only about horses. For instance, Bruce/Caitlin Jenner.....no I do not agree BUT it's not my life nor my issue (not my circus not my monkeys). It's being pounded to death in the news. Ok so he wants to be a girl, you said it now let it go. I'm sick of hearing it. It is NOT news worthy. How about ending the damn war? Now that is news worthy. How about our veterans that are programmed before they go to war but when they get home it's "well take care....bye" how about doing something for them? That is also news worthy. Jenner and his change is not but I do respect that it is his right to do so as long as no one else has to pay for it.
Bottom line is....... for me, I don't want to hear anymore about the slaughter issue or the genetic issue. I already kicked off and blocked one smart-ass that found the need to try to pick a fight.
I'm done with my rant now. If I've ruffled any feathers well get a wet rag and get unruffled. These are my feeling on a few things and I'm entitled to them.
